RETRO NES DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY PLATFORM
By creating your account on the editor, you join a community dedicated to creating and sharing retro games. Please read carefully the principles that govern our platform:
1. 100% Free Use: The creation tool and online ecosystem are and will remain completely free, operating online without monthly fees, hidden subscriptions, or access fees.
2. Creator Ownership and Freedom: The game created by you belongs entirely to you. You have total freedom to export your ROM, source code (.asm), and even commercially sell physical cartridges of your project independently, with no fees or royalties charged by the platform.
3. Community Licensing (Maker Ecosystem): To support our community testing, open testing, and evaluation area (integrated arcade style), by publishing your game on the platform, you grant a non-exclusive license for other users to play, rate, and download the ROM through the system.
4. Intellectual Property (IP) Responsibility:
• The platform acts exclusively as a neutral tool for creation and community hosting.
• Legal, civil, and criminal responsibility for any misuse of third-party intellectual property (such as protected characters, music, trademarks, or copied graphic assets without authorization) rests entirely and exclusively with the user who published the content.
• The platform reserves the right to remove any game or content that violates copyrights upon valid notification or report, without prior notice.
5. Conduct and Safety: The editor is an environment aimed at enthusiasts of all ages. Publishing content containing hate speech, explicit material, incitement to crime, or any illegalities is strictly prohibited.
6. RetroCompiler Boot Screen: Every ROM generated by the platform starts with a short (about 5 seconds) RetroCompiler screen, with our logo, a jingle and, when the game uses text, our web address. It cannot be skipped or removed, and it is the only condition of using the free platform: it helps new creators find the tool. Games you add to a multicart from other sources are not modified, but the multicart menu shows the RetroCompiler name.
7. Public Profile: Your name, username, photo and bio, together with the games you publish, appear on a public profile page that anyone can open, even without an account. You can hide your profile or change these details at any time, and moderators may remove a photo or bio that breaks the conduct rules above.
8. Messages: Users can exchange short text messages (up to 256 bytes). Do not use them for spam, harassment, threats or illegal content. You can block any user, delete your copy of a conversation, or set your account to receive messages only from people you follow or who follow you. A message that another user reports can be read by moderators, who may remove it and restrict the sender.
9. Asset Library and Community Store:
• Your library. Sounds, characters, levels, images, sprites and other assets you save to your library are private to you. Library items never leave the platform as files: they can be used inside the editors, published to the store, or shared by link, but not downloaded or uploaded as stand-alone files.
• Publishing. When you publish an asset to the store you confirm that you created it or hold every right and licence needed to publish it, that it contains no third-party copyrighted or trademarked material used without permission (such as protected characters, artwork, music or ROM data), and that it is not unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit or otherwise abusive. Your account name is shown as the author. A published asset is locked: you cannot edit or delete it, but you may hide it from the store or publish a new version.
• Licence to other users. By publishing, you grant RetroCompiler and every user of the platform a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to copy, modify and use the asset inside RetroCompiler and in the games they create with it, including distributing and selling those games. Copies already added to a library, and games already built with the asset, keep this licence even if you later hide the asset.
• Using store assets. You may add any store asset to your library, edit your copy and use it in your games. If you publish an edited copy, the original author is credited as its source. The platform does not verify the rights of what is published and offers no warranty about any asset; you use store assets at your own risk.
• Removal. The platform may remove any asset at any time, with or without notice, for example after a report or a rights-holder notification. Removing an asset also removes every asset derived from it and every copy of it from user libraries. Games and projects that already contain a copy are not changed. Content that has been removed cannot be published again.
• Rights-holder notices. If you believe an asset infringes your rights, use the Report button on the asset or write to [CONTACT E-MAIL], identifying the work, your rights in it and the asset. Accounts that repeatedly publish infringing or abusive content may be suspended or closed.
• Responsibility. You are solely responsible for every asset you publish and agree to hold the platform harmless from claims arising from it.
I have read, understood, and agreed to the terms above, assuming full responsibility for the content I create and publish on the platform.
